RAID conversion

Hi all,

I have a single SATA 250gb HD which is accessed via the fast-trak controller and thus is set up as a single drive striped RAID. Yes I know it technically isn't a RAID set up as it's only one drive.

Anyway, I have now purchased a second SATA 250gb HD with the intention of setting up a mirror.

The question is, given that my RAID configuration exists of a single striped drive, can I delete the array and set up a mirrored array using the two drives without losing all of my data?

The mobo is an Asus K8V with an athlon 64 (3000+) and 1gb ram.

Thanks for your words of wisdom.

Iain

I beleive you can Backup or COPY the data to a third device,
delete the existing RAID config
redefing the new RAID (which will reformat the primary + mirro)
and then restore the original data.

Be sure to capture the BOOT sectors.
