    Hello
I have a TOSHIBA L20 PSL2YE with 256MB Ram on it. I put in an additional stick of 1 gb and i was able to see 1.2 gb for a few weeks. Mysteriously, i could see only 1gb (minus what was taken by the graphics card) on it
I assumed this is because of the ram going bad.
I bought an additional 1 gb of ram and loaded it.
I can still see only 1gb of ram
    I did a bios update to a version 2.50-WIN 30/11/09
However i still see only 1gb of ram

Both sticks work when placed one at a time in SLOT 1
Both sticks work in when placed one at a time in SLOT 2
    but wont work together

Both are of the same speed. GB 200PIN DDR2 SODIMM 128MX64 PC2-5300

    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Saleem

Some laptop motherboards just won't accept a 1GB memory stick when the laptop was originally equipped with only a 256MB memory stick. Can you run with normally just the new single 1GB memory stick installed? If the video takes 64MB? 1024-64= 960MB total system memory

Generally you'll want to match laptop ram. Put two cards of equal amount. Ensure they are the correct types for your system.

Re: Ram not recognised on Laptop

I got an update from crucial.
apparently the laptop supports only 4200 ram. and both should be of the same speed.
    thanks
