RAM not usuable

gigabyte ga-ep45-ud3lr - win 7 64 bit- have been running 4GB (2x2G ocz reaper) ram....os showed 2.5 usuable. added 2x2G reaper - os still says 2.5 usuable?? shows 8GB installed, but will nor use it????? help appreciated...

You obviously missed this...

win 7 64 bit

Could you do the following please;

Click start > type msconfig in the search box and hit enter > Select boot tab > select Advanced Options.

Can you confirm that the top right hand corner of the Advanced Options box has maximum memory unticked please?

If it is ticked, and a lower amount is selected, un-tick the box and it will then default to using all available RAM from boot onwards.

You'll need to restart to complete changes, and you also need administrative rights (via UAC) in order to do this.
