This question has been asked a few times and has a few different answers.
The title to this thread says it all really.
Control panel > system shows: RAM shows 12 GB installed (3.49 useable).

My concern is that my memory is not being used properly?
I'm picking that this is normal and not as sinister as it sounds?

Any comments or sugestions fixes tips or tricks to put my mind at rest

Thanks for reading

Here's your limitation
  • Operating System : Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1
32-bit Windows has an address space of 4GB. Part of that is used by system BIOSes and graphics memory. With a 256MB graphics card about 3.3-3.5GB of RAM can be addressed and used, assuming you have 4GB fitted. If you fit a graphics card with 1GB of memory only about 2.6-2.8GB of the RAM would be addressable and usable.

So is if this behaviour is "normal" for my situation (win 7 32bit) is buying extra RAM a waste of time/money ??

Thanks

Yes, it would be. Or replace your Windows 32 bit with Windows 64 bit then you can utilize your RAM.
