"so I installed Windows 7 ultimate yesterday"... Was Windows 7 installed fresh or over the top of XP or Vista? Did you install all the proper Windows 7 drivers for your motherboard or computer? Are there any yellow exclamation points in the device manager?

It IS possible that the Hardware will not support Windows 7. Are there Windows 7 drivers for this computer available? Do you see any yellow exclamation points in the device manager?
