I think my computer has a virus. It's randomly freezing all the time. I've tried to Format it but it keeps freezing during that. Quick format worked fine but it didn't get rid of the problem. I have AVG free but it says everything is okay. Does anyone know anything i can do?

You're in the Virus and Malware Forum which is probably not where you should be.

Please look for Errors in the Event Viewer that are corresponding to the time of the "freezes."

Start> Run> type in eventvwr

Do this on each the System and the Applications logs:

  • [1]. Click to open the log>
    [2]. Look for the Error>
    [3] .Right click on the Error> Properties>
[4]. Click on Copy button, top right, below the down arrow >
    [5]. Paste here (Ctrl V)
    [6].NOTES
    • You can ignore Warnings and Information Events.
    • If you have a recurring Error with same ID#, same Source and same Description, only one copy is needed.
    • You don't need to include the lines of code in the box below the Description, if any.
    • Please do not copy the entire Event log.

Errors are time coded. Check the computer clock on freeze.

We'll start there.

Windows Installer can either be re=registered or reinstalled. Suggest the following:
Method 2: Reinstall the Windows Installer
To reinstall the Windows Installer, rename the damaged Windows Installer files, and then reinstall the Windows Installer. To do this, follow these steps:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;315346

Problem with print server. Please see the following for regedit instructions:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;832219
OR
2. Install a new version printer driver.

You have copied the same 3 Errors twice. Please try the three fixes. If they don't work, switch over to the Virus and Malware Removal Forum. Follow the steps here: https://www.techspot.com/community/...lware-removal-preliminary-instructions.58138/

Attach the three logs when finished. Please attempt to resolve the Errors first.
