right now i have the Realtek HD Audio Drivers R2.17 and it seems like every two week a new Realtek driver comes out. should i keep my sound card updated with every new driver or what. im using the GA-EP45-UD3R onboard Realtek ALC889A

If you're not experiencing any problems with the current driver then no. Realtek is one of the more "generic" brands of sound adapter, which is used in a wide variety of systems. To make it a little easier, look at the change log for each driver to see exactly what that version is targeting to fix or change and then rule out if the driver gets a download. Of course the perfect solution is to disable the onboard sound and get yourself a good dedicated sound card
