Realtek HD Audio Problem

    Hello, I have an Acer Aspire 8930 laptop with Realtek High Definition Audio. When I play some song that is stereo, both speakers on my laptop work. However, whenever the left speaker is supposed to play a part while the right is silent, the output of the left speaker drops by quite a bit and is severely muffled. Notice I said "drops", which means that at the very first moment of its solo operation it works properly, but then quickly falls down to a muffled rumble. I suspect that there is something wrong with my settings, however I can't be too sure because nothing I have tried works. Balance is set to 50/50 - that was the first thing i checked. Any suggestions?
