Reinstalled windows xp, cannot connect to internet

I reinstalled windows xp using the dell reinstall cd but cannot connect to internet

Checked device manager, network adapters (1394 net adapter is connected, firewalled)

clicked repair just to try something and it says failed to query TCP/IP settings of the connection.

please help,

a little more research reveals that I need drivers... downloading and installing them from dell website..
will let you know if this fixes the problem
