Remote Desktop still won't connect!

  1. Hey Guys,

So I need some help. I currently work on a computer for a town, but I live 60 miles from there. I'm trying to get remote desktop to work to help me out with this.

    The setup is as follows:

    My computer: Windows Vista Home
The computer i'm trying to connect to: Windows XP Home SP2
    Router: Belkin Wireless N

I've enabled remote desktop on both machines, obtained the IP addresses, and also went into virtual servers on the router and put in 3389 as the ports so that it is all enabled. I type in the IP address and after about 30 seconds of thinking it comes back as it can't connect. I've tried this from a Windows XP Pro to an XP Pro machine as well and still get the same result. I use it at work all the time, so i'm familiar with it, but its also used on a network at work. I could really use some help!

What has changed on your end or at the town computer. You said it had worked prior? I would use UltraVNC (free) in this case. http://www.uvnc.com/.

    Thanks!

Hey Guys thanks for all your advice! I'll try these out and get back with this if it doesn't work. Thanks again!

Oh and as far as it working before, I never got it to work, I had just tried it with an XP pro to XP pro to make sure it wasn't compatability and it still didn't work.
