Remove Norton and Install SpyBot S&D

I was on here a while ago and had a nasty little virus called Aebot and worked with some named Blind Dragon who had me uninstall Macafee and install Spybot S&D. I am very pleased with this software. I just got a new laptop and it came with a trial version of Norton. I want to properly uninstall and remove the norton and install the Spybot S&D....Is there any special process to uninstall Norton. i have heard that it isn't as simple as uninstall....

Any help would be appreciated on the process....

Also will I need Malware Bytes to be completely protected or is Spybot S&D enough?

For security, you need one antrvirus program, one firewall and 2 or more spyware/adware programs.

McAfee could have either been the suite which would have included all of the above, or just the AV. To the best of my knowledge, Spybot Search & Destroy is ONLY a spyware/adware program. BD might have had you run a scan with it, but it would have only replaced a spyware/adware program.

You can remove Norton, but you need to get an antivirus programs on board. Here are some suggestions:

When changing the AV program:
1. Download the new AV first and Save to Desktop- don't run yet.
2. Boot into Safe Mode> work offline.
3. Uncheck the entries on startup for the old AV
4. Uninstall the old AV
5. Run (install) the new AV
6. Reboot into Normal Mode and go back online
7. Check for updates for new AV
8. Run scan with new AV.
