hello and thanks in advance for any info....

what is the minimum size hard drive required to install windows xp professional, and how much memory is required???

the reason i am asking is that i have a compaq tower that has everything but the hard drive and memory, and i happen to have an old hard drive and cd drive, and am curious if this thing works.

XP Professional needs at least 2GB of HDD space. Even old drives have at least 8GB of it.

thanks for the response. I have another question. I just reformatted my pc, i have an hp that came with the xp home edition, sp2, and now since the reformat, I have xp professional, whats the diference and what did i lose or gain?? I definetly lost my sound, but other than that it seems to be working fine.

if u get the drivers for u're sound it should work, if u do not have a CD with u're drivers on it, u will have to download them from hp. they will have all drivers to use, be sure to install the MB drivers first before anything else and then any other drivers for the video or whatever.
