Restoring computer help?

i got my computer for xmas, it came with no cds, no paperwork and it had xp installed. so i fancied installing windows 7 and i did so but half way thru the installation my electricity cut off, so when it booted up again all that showed was a black box with cmd.exe on it. (i have no idea what that ment) so i got the windows seven installation disk, installed it all again and it worked fine, but now when i go on my internet five minutes later and my computer freezes completely.
id rather like to know if installing xp would make it work again, or how do i restore it back to factory settings. i have an infinity computer, if that helps?

Cold boot to a windows disk, remove the partition, reinstall the partition, then just move on ahead from the new partition to installing windows with the disk you have used.

That, and also get UPS atleast for use during the installation process.

Also did you remember to DLoad and install the Win7 drivers for that machine ? ?

oh as daft as it sounds, that all sounds really complicated to me ha :$
am trying to instal xp back into it now so fingers crossed this works. if not, its into a shop it goes to get fixed ha thanks or your help anyways
