    hi im running xp pro.
if i create a file in word then go file/save as/ and choose to save it in E my cdrw, it saves it to my cdrw disk. (fine)
but then if i put the disk back in and try to open it ,and add to it and save it again im told the disk is read only.
how can this be if its a cdrw disk?
is it because in saving it through windows is there a setting somewhere that finalizes the cd without asking me.
    thanks for any advice

once you write something to a disk, the disk becomes read only until you erase the files on that cd. its not like a floppy where you can add to it whenever you want.

    thanks for your reply
    but its a rewriteable cd
surley you can leave the disk open to be added to.
isnt that the idea so you can use them like a floppy

Try Nero InCD. Maybe that can help you.

    are you finalizing the disc?
I write to CDRs and RWs through multiple sessions all the time, so I know it can be done, try using the "multisession" preset in Nero.

thank you both very much incd sorted the problem, i didnt know you had to prepare the cd to act like a floppy i thought it just happened.
apparently the disc had to by in UDF format is this the only way you can use it as a floppy ? or am i talking out my bum again
    thanks for you help
