Samsung’s line of Galaxy Note products will soon be welcoming a new member to the family if the latest rumor to come down the pipe is to be believed. We are hearing that Samsung is preparing to introduce a new mid-range tablet at Mobile World Congress next month, making it the second slate in the Korean electronics giant’s Galaxy Note product line.
The Galaxy Note 8.0 is rumored to ship with a resolution of 1,280 x 800, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 1.3-megapixel front shooter, 2GB of system RAM and either 32GB or 64GB of flash storage, according to SamMobile. There will be a microSD card slot for media expansion but the publication didn’t list a potential processor, however.
The newest member of the Galaxy Note family will run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and be available in Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi with cellular models, albeit only 3G. True to the Note name, the tablet will also come with Samsung’s lauded S-Pen loaded with all of the accessory’s latest functionality. Battery life is unknown at this hour (no pun intended) but a 4,600 mAh battery is rumored to be on tap.
The 8-inch slate seems to be primed to compete with other popular models already available like Amazon’s Kindle Fire HD and Apple’s iPad mini, just to name a few. Pricing and processor details, naturally, will play a big role in just how successful and competitive the Galaxy Note 8.0 will ultimately be when it launches. We should know more on this next month if the rumors pan out.
