Running BIOS on external monitor

I own a Sony Vaio VPCF111FX. The ribbon cable on the lcd is going bad causing the lcd to be pretty much shot. I can use an external monitor with it but my problem is that the laptop runs the bios on the laptop lcd, then once windows (7) starts it switches to the external display. This prevents me from accessing this BIOS. Is there any way to get the laptop to run the startup through the external display?

try disconnecting the ribbon cable to make it invisble at the start
