running over voltage

  1. what is the advantage of having my ram or cpu at over voltage or at more? i looked in my bios and i can run my cpu "over voltage" and my rem at either automatic 2.6 or 2.7. if i run overvoltage will it run faster and or hotter? is there another advantage?

    Giving it more voltage will do nothing but make it run hotter.

    Unless you're already overclocking the FSB, then it would need a bit more power to run 'stable'. However, if you aren't overclocking, raising the voltage will do nothing but chance at frying your components.
