Samsung today announced its upcoming Galaxy Tab 3, the company's next iteration of Galaxy Tab devices. According to Samsung, the tablet will be equipped with a seven-inch screen, much like its predecessor; however, the device will feature a thinner bezel and beefier internals. Unfortunately, no information regarding prices or launch dates have been provided yet.

Inside, consumers will find a 1.2GHz dual-core APU paired with 1GB of RAM and a 4,000 mAh battery. Consumers will also have a choice between a few different models: Wi-Fi-only and 3G versions shipped with either 8GB or 16GB of internal storage. Of course, it does house a MicroSD (64GB max) slot though, for anyone desiring more space.

Closer to the surface, the Galaxy Tab 3 will arrive with a somewhat uninspiring 1024x600 display (about 169 PPI). The tablet also looks eerily similar to Samsung's recently released Galaxy S4 (review) smartphone -- just a little larger, measuring 7.4-inches tall, 4.37-inches wide and 0.39 thick. The Galaxy Tab 3 is also about twice the weight of the S4 -- 10.7 oz versus 5.6 oz.

Two items that haven't changed are its front and rear-facing cameras which feature the same 1.3 and 3.0 megapixel specs found on its predecessor.

Samsung's public announcement of an upcoming Galaxy Tab 3 follows a flurry of other Galaxy family rumors, most notably a ruggedized line-up of tablets, a "mini" Galaxy S3 smartphone and plans for a rather sizeable "Mega" Galaxy smartphone as well. Rumors regarding the Galaxy Tab 3, of course, haven't been entirely accurate though.

A full list of specs can be found on Samsung's website.

Terrible specs. Absolutely terrible.
Dual Core in the age of Quad.
600p resolutions where most devices have at least 720p/800p.
8GB storage. Even 16GB is cutting it thin. Some games weigh in at 1GB...
4000mAh battery. Oh come on.
And don't get me started on the camera specs.
