In brief: Samsung has introduced a pair of Galaxy Tab A9 tablets designed to deliver the latest innovations at an affordable price. The Galaxy Tab A9 and A9+ are powered by an octa-core processor and can be configured with up to 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of local storage that's expandable via microSD card slot (up to 1 TB). Both support Wi-Fi 5, and come pre-loaded with Android 13 out of the box.

The smaller Tab A9 sports an 8.7-inch LCD with a refresh rate up to 60 Hz, and features an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera opposite a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter. It measures 124.7 mm x 211.0 mm x 8.0 mm and weights 332 grams. The larger Tab A9+ (168.7 mm x 257.1 mm x 6.9 mm, 480 grams Wi-Fi / 491 grams with 5G) gets an 11-inch LCD with a 90 Hz refresh rate as well as an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing webcam. Oddly enough, the A9+ is limited to Bluetooth v5.1 while the standard model uses Bluetooth v5.3.

Battery life was not mentioned in Samsung's press release, but specs reveal the standard model ships with a 5,100 mAh pack while the A9+ comes with a 7,040 mAh unit. It is also worth noting that only the A9+ offers 5G connectivity; base model users will have to settle for 4G LTE. A quad-speaker system powered by Dolby Atmos comes equipped on the A9+; the standard A9, meanwhile, gets dual speakers.

Samsung's new tablets are rolling out globally in your choice of black, silver, or blue, but it seems the PR team got ahead of the product launch team. We re told the Galaxy Tab A9 series will be available globally from October 23 (that is today) starting in select markets but as of this writing, I am unable to find a product page or regional pricing information. We'll check back in a few days and update this post accordingly as pricing and regional market launch information becomes available.
