i have recently bought a dongle as hate hardline routers because they charge so much! so i check the rewuirements and my comp seemed to match- its on win xp home edition, however it won't recognise it in my 4 usb ports. it recognises anything else like my lacie but not the dongle. however my toshiba g20 has no problem in recognising it.

my question is do you think that there is soemthing wrong with my usb ports and how can i fix the issue- baring in mind laptop is now 4 years old i have moved several times and have no idea where original software is...

any help is gratefully received!
