After you install the drivers, go to Catalyst control center and restore factory defaults. if this doesnt work, then you have to call Sapphire and ask for a replacement

Turn off AA in the game. If you have it set on 8x that'll kill your framerates. AA really murders fps but 4x really cleans up the jaggies.

the 6870 is capable of AA, while still achieving high frames, it is an issue with the card itself

Depends on what CPU and resolution he's pushing. AA slashes frame rates, 8x will probably quarter or third non AA fps.

with the latest application profiles that shouldnt be a problem

Application profiles? Drivers you mean? You can setup application profiles within the catalyst control panel (which is different to the drivers) but by default its set to use the in-game gfx settings so application profiles are pretty out the window here. But drivers is the first thing to check, and manually uninstalling the old ones like someone chimed in and said to do was good advice, thats a rule of thumb typically with gfx drivers.

installing application drivers install a set of preset profiles:

Ok... make sure they replace the card, not just look at it and say it is functioning.

There is probably nothing wrong with the card so I don't imagine replacing it will achieve much ...

True, but maybe getting a new card with fresh drivers may improve performance

I dont send my pc untill after christmas but I was playing saints row the third earler and I notice while using fraps for frame rate I was getting realy high frames like 120 I think the most I got then while I was driving about dropped to like 24-30 frames seems to me it cant handle a lot of things at once

And on the auto detect settings it was running fine then I got in a chopper then frames drop so low I could realy play it was doing me head in was only getting 22 frames

Are you running the newest 12.11 driver?

    yea I am

Well, the WHQL version should come out any day now, so I would just wait for that, report this performance issue to AMD @ the "Report issue" area of the download page

Ok first I would download driver sweeper and wipe the amd video drivers out completely then do a fresh reinstall. The 6870 is not a card that will play most of these games at full tilt it is actually less powerful than a 5870.

Im sorry but Uknown seems like he partially knows what he is talking about. What do you think fresh install of drivers means? Fresh as in uninstall the old ones then reinstall new fresh drivers I highly doubt there is anything wrong with this pc. As a side note have you checked to make sure that the external 6 pin power plug is plugged into your video card?

Uninstall the old drivers and reinstall fresh ones. I never use driver sweeper. Fresh installs can actually be completed this way, you just need to delete a registry key, which I personally never do.

lol yeah umm I know this but if you are having problems you should really use driver sweeper to wipe everything. Trust me buddy been building computers since I was 15 years old and have owned over 17 video cards.
