Sata and ide probs

Hi all...I've just built a new pc
mobo psp800s
p4 3.0 gig
I've got 2 sata drives one on which I've installed xp pro
I'm trying to conect a ide drive with some file I need to copy to the sata drive but as soon as I conneect the ide ..it won't boot up
I've tried every thing I can think of with the same result
anyone know what is happening
any advice would be appreciated

Have you been into the BIOS and set the SATA drive to first boot drive? If the IDE is earlier in the list of drives the system will try to boot from, it won't boot..

Hi thanks for the quick reply...yes I've done as you say ..I thought that would fix it ..but the same thing is happening...
