    my computer does not recognize a sata drive connected to it.
    bios= d686 (ser#281145577)
    phoenix tech., ltd 6.00 pg 8/3/05
    os= xp home 5.1.2600 sp3 build 2600
    motherboard= ms-7142 ver:1 (gateway?)
    sys type= x86 family 15 model 44 stepping 2 authentic amd ~1799 mhz
    chipset= via 82c204 rev 0
    sata drive= seagate barracuda 7200.10 250gb

    The drive functioned properly prior to this attempt to install on this system. However, it was connected to another machine via a usb adapter.
