sata hd problem

i have put a brand new sata 320 gig hitachi hard disk up to my comp,when in bios says 320 gig of space,
formatted it throu xps disk mangement now says only 131 gigs,any ideas

system is p4 3gz,asrock 4CoreDual-VSTA mother board,x1 40 gig ide hard disk with os on it,

Download and install the drive's install utility from its manufacturers website and use this utility to partition, format and install this new drive

have looked for something like this on hitachi web site but can find anything,

Go here and download Seagates Dickwizard. I don't think there will be a problem with the Hitachi drive under Seagates utility. DiscWizard now uses Acronis software to manage and install IDE and SATA drives of all kinds:
