    My problem is that I have upgraded to xp and now I can't use my scanner..

    Sorry I didn't say what kind of scanner...It is made by Acer...and I do not know how to change it so I can use it with Windows XP...I am lost!!

    You need something called a driver, which is a piece of software you can download free from your manfufacturer's website.

    A driver is software which tells Windows how to use the device. Without it, Windows has no idea what to do with it.

    Go to www.acer.com

    You'll need to download the latest driver for your model of printer. This means you'll need to figure out what the model # is (usually on the bottom or on the lid). Then figure out how to get on Acer's website.

    It is also possible that your scanner is not supported in Windows XP. This is especially true if it is an older scanner.
