Go to Control Panel > Display Settings, slide the resolution bar all the way to the right, and click "OK."

    Hope that helps.

If you are running XP, it is Control Panel > Display > Settings (this is a tab)

The window that pops up is called "Display Properties."

You can also get there by right clicking the desktop and choosing "Properties" from the drop-down menu.
