We have a Seagate 9SEAN3-500E that connects to the computer but wont open when we click on the drive. We can see it connects but nothing opens. Also when we plug it in, the computer freezes. How can we fix this please?

Is it a new drive? Also if it is a older drive have you tried another computer?

If it doesn't have anything valuable, just RMA the drive. If it does.. see about booting from a live linux disc and seeing if you can access the drive that way, or perhaps a recovery disc that runs a WinPE environment.

I have no idea what class this Seagate 9SEAN3-500E is.
have you tried using the computer's motherboard usb ports instead of the front panel usb ports?

as far as my experience with Seagate hdd (internal) will tell, Seagate disc wizard for windows (or bootable Seagate disc wizard) can initialize these drives so that the computer can properly handle them for additional storage or for OS installation.
