Hi,
After returning from my holidays my moniter is acting weird. It only happens on the windows welcome screen or if it goes on standby or into a screensaver. I tried to take a screenshot but of no avail. A horazontal line of white (and i think theres some green and red in there too) appears across the middle of the screen and spreads. I can get rid of it on startup by turning on and off the moniter a few times but if it does it on standby I have to restart my pc.

Is my moniter on the out. Oh, Its an lcd flat pannel btw. A Lidl job.

Dead screen. Probably not fixable. Hope it is not a laptop.
LCD flat panels have a very early failure rate... Some brands such as LaCie, Viewsonic, Ensoniq, Acer, eMachines, Optiquest, were lasting about 17 months on average. That number is getting better on new models. It is usually not the screen, but rather the system board in the neck or on the back of the monitor. Replace that, and you are good. But they are darned difficult to find cheaply.

Luckily there are new LG, Samsung, and Sharp monitors with long life, three to five year warranties, for as low as $150.
