    Hi all,

I've got a Dell Latitude D820, and I'm finding that the battery is experiencing wear at a phenomenal rate. I've seen that Thinkpads have software that allows one to set charge thresholds in order to reduce this wear. Does anybody know if there are any similar utilities out there for a general laptop or, specifically for a Dell?

    Thanks!!**

Go into the Power settings in the control panel and set them for maximum battery life

I think that just controls things like screen brightness and CPU speed stepping, in order to reduce the discharge rate (ie the power or number of watts drawn from the battery).

It does not affect how the battery is actually charged and, as it stands, the battery just keeps on charging until it hits 100%

Ideally, I would like a way to disable battery charging, so the battery doesn't sit in a fully charged state for month after month.
