Shutdown problems

I'm trying to do my holiday shopping online and keep getting a message from the Generic Host Process for Win. 32 Services--followed by a shutdown. The error report lists two file extensions: svhost.exe.mdmp and appcompat.txt. Are these Spyware files? Help!

I use to get that, but it used to attack my lsasse.exe file. That was a sasser virus, have you tried a virus check?

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

First of all please will you fill in your system specs in my.TS.forum at the top of the page(click on edit profile) thanks

Now down load the following four programmes.

Spybot search and destroy. Adaware. Cwshredder. Hijackthis. you can get all these from www.majorgeeks.com

Install Adaware and make sure it is fully updated then do a full scan and delete whatever it finds.

Now install Spybot update it and then immunize your system then let it scan and fix whatever it finds.

Do the same with Cwshredder.

Put hijack this on your desktop then boot into safe mode by tapping the F8 key just befor the windows loading screen select safe mode.

run Hijackthis and scan your system but do not let it fix anything yet copy and paste you Hijackthis log and post it here for us to have a look at.
