Shutting down

  1. need help, am a total noob so replies will have to be simplified,lol, when i try to shut down my pc the screen freezees when it gets to the shutting down stage, can anyone help plz, thanks. mick.

    Test your ram. (If you have more than 1 module that is). Take out all but one and do this testing each module. See if this happens with one module and not the others. Also, do you maintain your computer with hard disk defrags? Have you tried to use the system restore? also , R click on 'my computer'...L click on 'explore'...L click on 'properties'...L click on 'tools'...L click on 'error checks'. You will see 2 error checks that you should run. Run the lower one first. It will go through 4 pages. It tales awhile so wait it out. Then run the other file check which will require a restart. Start there.
