I have a question about shutting Windows down. When a normal shut down is running there is boxes that will come up not allowing it to finish. Sometimes it say svchost on the message. How can I determine what is running still or how can I prevent this. Thanks

You need to find out what is hanging:

Start> Run> type in eventvwr

Do this on each the System and the Applications logs:
[1]. Click to open the log>
[2]. Look for the Error>
[3] .Right click on the Error> Properties>
[4]. Click on Copy button, top right, below the down arrow >
[5]. Paste here (Ctrl V)
[6].NOTES
  • You can ignore Warnings and Information Events.
  • If you have a recurring Error with same ID#, same Source and same Description, only one copy is needed.
  • You don't need to include the lines of code in the box below the Description, if any.
  • Please do not copy the entire Event log.

Errors are time coded. Check the computer clock on freeze.

You will most likely see the Error in Applications and the Description may begin with "Hanging App"
Once we find out what it is, it can be unchecked on Startup.

If you have some computer knowledge and recognize the app, you can use the msconfig utility to take if off of Startup. I will be glad to help if you need it.

You're welcome. If you need help with any of the Errors in the Event Viewer corresponding to this problem, paste the Error in a reply and I'll help you.
