I have taken care of mine as well, I agree that things could get a little more cleaned up around here.

I like the look of text and the avatars

I removed mine as well, makes things look more streamlined. But I did kind of like tossing up error messages in there.

Ok, so I have made the changes effective...

As of now, avatars can be as big as 70x70 pixels (a 2x increase) and images are no longer allowed in signatures.
Also from now on signatures should be limited (or moderated otherwise) to 4 lines of text, links, etc. are allowed.

Hopefully a continued development of measurements in the boards will help us to grow in the long-run, next in my list is a more detailed FAQ/Posting guidelines & new custom user titles.

were signature images really that annoying?

I guess I have been out of the loop here for quite some time, and was surprised that signature images have been deep-sixed by the TS staff. I have read through the thread where this decision was discussed, and I find it difficult to accept the reasoning behind the action. I admit that as moderators of the forums, it is necessary to lbrowse through every post, but to say that signature images made this task difficult is somewhat weak. You do have the ability to supress images when viewing the forums, do you not? I like seeing Darth Vader fighting it out with Obi-Wan, and enjoy other sig images that have relevance to that particular member. It is things like that that give each member here a unique identity. I know, your saying next, "But we can double our avtar size." While avtars are cool ways of identifying ourselves, they don't do the same job as a signature image. As a member of a forum that, so far, has had an open mind about things, I hereby end my rant. But I felt that I should voice my opinion about this. I do, very much, appreciate my ability to voice opinions here at TS. ¢¢.

That is one thing that we also like to be able to do around here is vioce your opinion. If you couldn't say what you felt, then there wouldn't be much point in having an open forum. I know us as moderators try to moderate what is said, but we do keep an open mind and if something needs to be left, it will be(to a certain extent). Although I do miss my sig pic, I think it looks tons better now that it is gone. It brings the attention off the pics and into the content of the post.

The only thing I can think of now is beefing up the stuff between the posts to help seperate them just a little better

You will agree with me that signatures have nothing to do with your freedom in the boards that hasn't changed one bit... the absolute opposite is happening as we are trying to bring more value to the actual opinions posted, you can continue having your personalized sigs, just not images for better viewing and reading of the threads themselves.

is what the hell counts...........but, in trying to convey my thought process 2% of the time........and since, i know just enough to be dangerous........some caveat of a completely unique and skewed perspective may shed some light on the subject. I think it comes from being........first, english, with a familial coat of arms, pomp, and circumstance.........secondly, swedish, as my grandmother was FOB(fresh off boat) yaaa, pass the struedel..........and lastly, japanese (we write from right to left, top to bottom) i grew up there..............so for all of my thoroughly confused and anal constituents.......wazzzz-up:grinthumb

I have to say that I agree that the forums do look much more compact and easier to follow with the new format. I guess I just hate change. Sigh..... . One more thing, though. How do I increase my avtar, and can I customize one, or do I have to stick with the ones provided here?

You need a number of posts before being able to upload your own avatar... can't remember what the number was... 175? Something around that so you could give it a try and if it doesn't work now you should still be very close to the required mark.
