    Sims2-smooth edges grayed out?

Why is smooth edges grayed out? My new computer has 6gb, 640gb harddrive, 2.5 ghz, and intel gma x3100 graphic card (Vista). The texture and detail of the sims were defaulted to high so why is smooth edges grayed out?

My old computer was much worse with 1gb, 2.2 ghz, 1gb memory and ati xpress200 graphics card and it still let me choose the smooth edges option.

I have sims2 delux, seasons, bonvoyage, and apartment life and the game runs really fast even with all the custom content i download.iThe mooth edges problem :( it looks like they are jagged people..
