  1. I added a slave hard drive without formating it. The machine started fine and then the slave started to rewrite the files in the main drive, It marked them as unreadable? can someone tell me if i can safe the data on my main hard drive. I was running Home XP. Thanks for your time.

Uhm.. A hard drive does not do anything by itself and it most certainly will not modify the files on another hard drive. That's just silly.

Are you sure you didn't boot from this "slave" drive that you just added and your old Windows cannot open files from your "new" Windows?

I talk with a friend and he added it to his computer and it did the same thing to him, He thinks that it was and is a virus. Thanks for your in-put.

In that case it wasn't the slave hard drive that started destroying your data. It was a file or a program you were silly enough to open from this other hard drive.
