I have recently started using my Thinkpad 600X that has been idle for quite some time (1-2 years). As it is my backup machine, I reformatted the C drive and then loaded W2000 Pro. The problem is the machine is running VERY slow. The W2000 install took hours (3-5)! Just to boot is 10-20 minutes. I get no obvious indication of errors. Any thoughts on why it is so slow and suggestions on resolving it? Couple of extra data points: - It is slow at all times. Startup, normal usage, and shut down. - Rarely see the hard drive light run steady, just periodic flickers. - As it has been idle, the battery is dead (and bad) and I am running off of AC - It has 192MB of RAM - Have not loaded any applications other than what was part of the W2000 Pro install CD.
