Sony DRU-710A problems

By edmundtran

  1. Hi, I have a sony DRU-710A and I have been having problems with it ever since I got it. The main problem is the DVD burning, which always seems to end in cannot perform end of disc-at-once or words to that effect. My media I am using is Datawrite Red 4.7GB General Purpose 8x DVD-R.

I did some extra research and found out that it was a rebadged Liteon Drive SOHW 1633S. So i flashed the drive with the Lieton Firmware, and amazingly the burning worked. However this wasnt perfect as reading the disc afterwards would be on and off. Recently, I noticed that sony had updated their firmware to BYX4 version, and so I tried that without sucess. However upon Re-flashing the drive with the Liteon firmware, I found that it still wouldn't burn... argh!

Does anyone have any advice on how to combat this problem... is it the drive or the media?

    Thanks,
    Ed
