  1. Sony is in the process of forming a new VAIO division with laptops designed by third parties, according to VAIO Business Group deputy president Ryosuke Akahane. In an interview with PC Pro, Akahane said the company plans to split its laptop business into two groups. The first will continue producing the same old Sony-crafted VAIO systems, while the second division's systems will be made by external entities.

Fail to sony! We can see what happened when they bought the "I can't recall cellphone brand" and they outsourced phone making, FAILPHONES! I actually had the misfortune of buying one thinking it was a Sony Walkman and then googled for a new firmware (Since it worked like crap) and realized it was made by another company but then branded Sony... even the earphones seemed cheap. Returned it next day and bought a good old comfortable Nokia, which should have been my first option anyway...
  3. Sony outsourced mobile phones? I thot they went into a joint venture with Ericsson.

At least that was what I was told when I returned the cellphone, it had a sagem brain but branded as Sony.
