Sony memory stick read problems

I have XP OS on a WInbook X1 laptop and latest SP and upgraded. When I access my Sony memory stick using USB I'm asked if I want to format the drive. Any suggestions on how see the drive verses always being asked to format it?

After you format it, it should stop asking you. Format it in FAT32.

my 512 mb memory stick not work. i didn't do any thing just put it in my vaio laptop to copy some files and i see it not work. i used it 2 month.
