Sony's bio battery turns waste paper into electricity

The technology generates electricity by turning shredded paper into sugar which in turn is used as fuel.

To make paper one needs trees, hence, I don't see this totally eliminating environmental concerns in absolute terms.

in any case, many things can make a battery. You can make one out of a lemon. I've made some out of pennies before.....
