sound card worrys! any one wana anwser a question??

  1. Hi :) I have just brought a PC and i was looking on net for some extras E.g speakers etc and desided to buy a creative 2 zs sound card (i thionk its called that) but after researching it i found alot of people saying adding soundcards slow your computer down by 80%!! is this true or have they just done it wrong/they have slow computers anyway. I know this card has troubles with norton 2004 :/ Can any one help?? :)

    wait a change of plan. Ive deisded to just buy Sound Blaster Live 5.1 Digital :) will this slow my computer down any tho?? I have a 3500+ AM<D processor if thats any help :) No idea what the mother board is tho :(

    Hello

    No, quite the opposite true.
    Sound cards and video cards take a big hit off the cpu and ram,
    compared to onboard video/sound.
    "Audio play back harware acceleration" & eax can slow things down abit
    in games and such. I just set it back one notch.
    Ive had no problem with the 5.1 I'm using.

    AH! well i had heard that but seeing these people say "sound cards had slowed down there computers" got me confused :( thanks for clearing that up :)
    really? I'm hoping havin EAX wont slow mine down :( hopeing the processor and grpahic card will be enoughto carry it along :)
