Sound Problem

try to elaborate on the problem, such as listing your sound card (if you know it) when the problem happens, what exactly it is, etc.

My pc's sound was working correctly be fore I reinstall windows xp for my pc but know it has built in sound card and it is pentium 4 2.8 Ghz pc.I have tried to down load drivers from the manufacturer but It can not detect the sound card .

what is the name of your onboard sound? is it ac'97 or something like that?
