dude up there must rock... that probably makes an awesome couple of sound card and speakers.

just wanted to say that i've got (don';t laugh cause they're almost no name) volcano YZ-1000 (probably none of you guys even heard about this brand) but they sound ok with my integrated 3d-sound card. the volcano has 36W rms woofer and 5 rms watts on each satelite. sound good to me. so i've never actually heard these 5.1's and z560's . so comparing those to mine... is it a whole lot more bassy... cause i love bass (with quality of course)

    oh yes my main question..
if i've got this speaker set... and i get a better sound card like 5.1 audigy mp3 or something in the 80 - 200 dollar zone. is my sound gonna be better? and do sound cards overheat? so am i gonna have to buy a heat/fan for my sound card? and last qustion...can you overclock them :D

I also need to get speakers, My CS FPS2k's took a downward spiral and are now shot.

I'm also looking into the Z-560's. Over at Logitech's site, they now have Z-640's which are 5.1, but less power. Which should I consider? And what about the Creative Inspires? Having read what everyone has said about the Z-560's I'm kind of favoring them. But what about 5.1? Does it hold a major advantage over 4.1? The 560's are also twice as much as the 640's, 200$ and 100$ respectively. I'm sure I could afford the 560's, but are they not worth it? The external volume pod on the 560's also get me - on the 640's the controls are built into the center speaker. Do any of these have headphone jacks? I think I can see one on both of them - but I'm not sure. I'm currently reading the huge long comprehensive article by Tom's Hardware...very interesting.

The Creative Inspire 5700's look quite tempting...

    Hey Vehementi,

Personally, I'm planning to get Altec Lansing 641 soon. One concern about Z560 is build quality. The build quality of Z560 has been often critized by some of its owner although i m not sure. Rumours has it that staff from Klispch are trying to bring down Logitech by writing negative reviews. Well reviews about z560 and 641 are great and impressive. It would be worthwhile to check out 641.....i m sure you'll have a hard time to choose!
Most people would agree that since the take over of Cambridge Soundworks by creative, the quality has degraded. So expect to see similiar reviews of 5700(designed by Cambridge Soundworks.

Well you ought to keep in mine that choosing speakers is a subjective issues. You need to have a look your self and listen to the speakers before decide which to get. Your pair of ears decides them.;)

    Thx y&w...

Actually, all of the reviews I read about the Z-560's were positive. They highly praised them for their build quality, and very aesthetically pleasing, with the grill on or off (which is very easy to remove). And it's not like I'm going to be throwing my speakers around the room, I have a pretty big computer table and they won't be teetering on the edge. They look very appealing to me in my current situation, although I probably won't end up buying them for 2 months...

I'll start reading reviews of the Altec 641's, the massive speaker roundup over at Tom's praised them.

I tried stopping at Best Buy yesterday, but I couldn't. I will sometime before Christmas, and I know by their commercials they support people trying stuff before they buy it :D

Oh man y&w - those speakers are nice too. I skipped over their section in the Tom's review - but I'm reading it now...

They're also the same price as the Z-560's

The deciding factor is probably the lack of tweeters in the Logitech's...

My dad has the Klipsch 4.1's. I've used them alot, and he's been having problems with them. Their design quality is awful. I mean, it's a very nice speaker setup, but...ugh. I don't even like the look of them.

The Altec subwoofer is huge...about the same size as my case! And I have a huge case! Two 6.5" drivers!

I'm starting to like this set...Darn you y&w, you've got me torn!

    My ears will decide.

    Hi Vehmenti,

Oh about the negative reviews written are not professional ones but just customer's opinion. Sorry about the confusion! Hehe...you're starting to like the 641.:) This large subwoofer gives you the feel of the music.

Anyway may your good pairs of ears decide the right set of speakers.

I'm serious, I REALLY can't decide. Taking a trip to Best Buy will probably decide between the two. Ugh...

    Uh oh...

    Logitech Z-680 :(

    THX, decoding galore, 5.1...

The track I would test these speakers with would probably be Electronaut (VNV Nation) :giddy:

    Uh oh...

Ive read several reviews of speakers and they all said the Logitechs sound as good as the Klipsch. Ive seen the Logitech Z560's for as low as $130 American. Their Z640's are supposed to sound great too. Newegg.com has them for $70.
