    didn't work for me

I'm a developer w/ MSDN subscription. I need to install sql server standard on a laptop, actually a tablet pc -- i'm working on queued transactional replication (for laptop synchronization).

I just can't install a server OS here loose the tablet functionality. Tablets run a special edition XP Pro.

I tried using the sql server developer edition setup.ins file, and it did'n't work for me. Are there any other files I need to swap out??

    help?

OK. You are an administrator while doing this, right? There is also a limit to the size of Windows registry. Check that you haven't filled that - the setting is next to pagefile size in system properties.

TNX NODSU, Unfortunately I'm still getting the same error. Yes, I'm using the Administrator account, and I've already tried to check and increase the Windows Registry size (even the paging file memory) but no luck.

I look up in the net and I actually found a post of the same error: Low Registry quota condition. The suggested solution was to uninstall first the ff:

    .Net framework
    .Net SDK
    ASP Web Matrix

Problem is I have not installed these things yet.

    Anymore suggestion?

    Hi guys.

I was wondering. Does this even work? I tried it with the setup.ins from demo and it doesn't work. Anyone else get this to work? Or maybe the developers edition's setup.ins would work and if so where to get a copy of that.

    Thanks,
    Lawrence

Fix To SQL Server Registry Low Quota For Win XP Pro

    Hi,

This is a fix which worked for me, I installed SQL Server
before on the same machine without any problem, I don't
know why this happened the second time.

To Solve : "An error occurred while creating one or more registry entries. Please see C:\WINNT\\\sqlstp.log for details. The problem could be caused by a low registry quota condition" - Sql Server 2000 Installation Error Message

    Follow these 3 Steps:
    1. Run Regedit (start, run and type regedit)
    2. Go to the Edit Menu -> Find and type .Col (This will bring you straight to the key)
    3. Right Click on the .Col Key, select Permission, select the User and Check Full Control.

This should do, if it doesn't work for you I'm very sorry.

    Hope this post help someone.

P.S: This is my first post :)

    Good Luck
