Standby Inactive

When I go to shutdown my system running Windows Xp Home, I click start, then shutdown, and arrive at the box with the three choices of "STANDBY", "TURN OFF", and "RESTART".

The turn off and restart slections are working but the standby button appears to be "grayed out", and is also unresponsive. The word standby appears in yellow instead of white in coloring.

Can any one tell me what is going on and how to fix it. The system unit is a Gateway 510. I would like to be able to use the standby function when I need to.

Thanks

Go to Start -> Set Program Access and Defaults -> then try the options available to you there, beginning with Add/Remove Windows Components. You will need your Gateway Disc.
