Start won't open in Windows 10

Hi,
Can someone please help, I cannot open the Start Menu or Edge and Settings. I have all the latest updates but cannot figure out what is wrong. Please help!!!

Hi,

When you hit the windows key what happens? What version of windows 10 do you have? Has it just started doing this?

Hi,
The Windows key does nothing when pressed. I'm running the Anniversary edition of win 10, but it started before updating so I thought the Anniversary update might fix the problem. Edge opens then closes immediately.

Hey Verity25,

It’s really sad to hear about this problem and that too after the Windows 10 anniversary update. I have seen that most of the people are facing different problems after such update.

For your problem, I advise you to perform the following steps:

· First press “Alt+Ctrl+Delete” option and run the task manager.

· There you’ll get the three options at the top – “File, Options and View”. You have to click on the “File Option”; and click on the “Run New Task”.

· When the dialogue box gets open, type “Powershell” and tick on the ‘Create this task with administrative privileges’ and Enter OK.

· After this, type the following:

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

After this, the start menu of your system will start functioning again.
