I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop which I have just discovered has a faulty battery, and although it is plugged into a power socket, won't start up. Any thoughts on how I can get around this?

Thanks...good thought. Problem is - it doesn't work. It would seem that the computer just won't boot up unless there is a working battery in place. But I don't want to have to buy a battery just for one boot. Any other thoughts???

People always think laptop batteries are expensive, and they are amazed that a laptop battery ever goes bad... Think that a laptop battery is like paper to a printer.
