Status: Not Associated

I need help with an OLD SMC barricade router. I have a new Dell laptop that has wireless capabilty. I am trying to connect a cabl internet connection to the SMC barricade. All lights are functionioning properly adn I can ping the router, I can access the router via the http address. I cannot connect to the internet. I am seeing on my icon that signal is excellent, speed is good, i have ip address bt under status it says "not associated". I have tried to disable the network card, conenct and re-connect to the router, I dont knwo what else to do?

Some routers have a setting to block wireless clients from the internet.

Also, are you sure your laptop has all the TCP/IP settings correct?

If you run "ipconfig /all" from the command line you should see that your WiFI adapter has an IP address and gateway/DNS set to the router IP.
