  1. Hey guys, I looked and didn't see any other threads with my particular problem.
I'm thinking it must be a hardware issue at this point.
My PC loads to the windows xp loading screen, (the blue status bar.)
I finally just reformatted and it is still doing the same thing. I am unable to run even in safe mode.

I stopped using this PC for two months, then when I got back I started it up, installed all the windows updates, restarted, let all the updates install, shut down, and the next morning this was the problem.
Thanks in advance to any suggestions.

How do you know your hard drive is good... You have some of the symptoms of a bad hard drive or defective memory.
I would do a full reformat, Windows Install, and Windows Update for drivers all over again.

I did a full format, installed xp, but as soon as it reboots, it gets stuck here. I figure it must be hardware but Im just not sure what device would cause this problem.
I replaced the hd about 2 years ago, and added 512 mb ram at about the same time.
Other then that the system is about 8 years old.
