Sudden appearance of DEP warning in explorer

By monton
Mar 2, 2006
  1. I've suddenly been getting DEP, Data execution prevention, warnings in windows explorer. Seems to occur when I try to drag and drop, copy or move files. This started when I was doing a little "housekeeping" of my photos. What could be evoking DEP? Explorer than shuts down but doesn't crash the OS/computer. Anyone else experience this? Anyone have an idea of what is going on? Thanks for any help. m

    Dep

After posting, I did a search on DEP and found a reference to Microsoft KB #875352 that has solved my problem. I turned off DEP for windows explorer and the problem (so far) seems to be fixed. I used the **** Cheney thought process, you know, ready! shoot! aim!
    Thanks
